The Horse Connection offers students a unique opportunity to learn horsemanship skills along with handling & riding skills. To learn horsemanship the student must be able to learn self – awareness & take responsibility for the action & responses that the horse gives to them.
The teachers pick the students for program consideration but it is ultimately the student who chooses to get on a flight animal 10 times their size. It is this choice that our program can build responsibility in the student as it is not the horse that asks the student to get on them it is the student who is making this choice. It is this genuine desire to be around the horse that gives the program the leverage needed to promote personnel growth within the student.
Horses are feeling beings with their instincts for survival well intact, horses are very sensitive to their environment & to what surrounds them. From the moment that the student approaches the horses it will give information back on how the student is feeling - it is this information that the instructors can use to build upon - as horses live in the here and no”.
Horses seek someone to lead them in order to feel protected-if the student cannot provide this in the hear & now it is the instructor that must take the leadership until the student learns how to do so. Students must learn to be a leader first in order to build trust with the horse
The Horse Connection offers students the ability to take a risk in a real life situation while working with a large flight animal. (Horseback riding is considered a high risk sport)
Horses offer a unique way of learning as the student needs to learn how to earn the horses respect by consistency, empathy, genuineness, trust, clear communication & leadership in order to gain cooperation from them - this is the programs main focus the practical skills come with practice and the students ability to follow direction and gain control over their body and control over their emotions/feelings.
